Dr. Christopher Loffredo
Christopher A. Loffredo, PhD
Associate Professor of Oncology and Biostatistics, Biomathematics and Bioinformatics
Dr.Christopher Loffredo is an internationally known researcher and educator in the fields of cancer epidemiology and birth defects. His research focuses on environmental and genetic causes of cancer and birth defects, specifically on the roles that genetics play in mediating the risks from environmental chemical exposures. His currently funded research projects span liver, bladder, and lung cancer in relation to chronic infections such as hepatitis C, and environmental factors such as smoking and secondhand smoke.
Dr. Loffredo also directs the Clinical and Molecular Epidemiology Shared Resource at Lombardi. Dr. Loffredo is the principal investigator of three NIH-funded R01 grants and several smaller studies, and is a co-investigator in several ongoing projects on childhood cancer and congenital heart malformations in infants. His research record includes more than 50 peer-reviewed research papers and several books and book chapters.

Dr. Fung-Lung Chung
Fung-Lung Chung, PhD
Professor of Oncology
Dr. Fung-Lung Chung’s research focuses on illuminating cellular and molecular mechanisms of environmental and endogenous carcinogenesis, identifying biomarkers, and developing targets for the prevention of colon, breast and lung cancers in clinical and population studies. He has successfully applied laboratory methods to population studies designed to decrease the risk of cancer.
Dr. Chung has been continuously funded for more than two decades and is the author of over 104 publications. Before joining Georgetown, he was the Chief of Division of Carcinogenesis and Molecular Epidemiologist and the Program Leader of Mechanisms of Carcinogenesis at the American Health Foundation Cancer Center (a NCI-designated Laboratory Cancer Center) of the Institute for Cancer Prevention in Valhalla, New York. He has served on various NIH Scientific Review Committees. He serves on the editorial board for several journals, such as Chem. Res. Toxicol., Oncology Reports, and Mol. Nutrition and Food Res.
