Program Overview
The Drug Discovery and Developmental Therapeutics (3DT) Program is focused on the identification and development of novel cancer treatments. This well-established clinical program comprises basic scientists and clinicians who collaborate to provide both the program members and Lombardi at large with a conduit for rapid, scientifically driven cancer drug development.
Emphasis is placed on training and education of young physician-scientists and fellows within the program, primarily directed to training clinical translational researchers. The 3DT Program plays a fundamental role within Lombardi. Target and drug discovery carried through early-phase clinical trials is a critical process for all cancer research today. With a membership consisting of highly skilled, experienced basic and clinical scientists with many unique abilities, the 3DT Program members function both as a tightly collaborative scientific program serving the needs of its members and providing the other Lombardi programs, as well as external scientists, with drug discovery and development expertise to facilitate their science.
The specific aims of the 3DT Program are as follows:
Aim 1: To identify and characterize new cancer therapeutics and diagnostics.
Aim 2: Preclinical evaluation of cancer therapeutics and diagnostics.
Aim 3: To design and execute cancer clinical trials with translational emphasis.
