Information Technology Position Description Templates

In order to assist management personnel and information technology staff in preparing accurate and complete Position Descriptions (PDs), generic position description templates for major information technology job groups have been prepared in WordPerfect (6/7/8) format and are available for download to your computer from this webpage. Simply click on the link to the template, click on the "Save File" button, indicate the directory and filename to be used and follow the prompts to download the template.

For your convenience, all templates have also been prepared in Adobe PDF format for viewing. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader© to view these forms. Click on the icon below to get the free software from Adobe and follow the installation instructions.

These templates are not designed or intended to be complete or comprehensive position descriptions in themselves, but to list typical duties and responsibilities that are representative of many job types.  Please consider these templates as potential time savers to help you create PDs. Download them, edit them, add or delete text as appropriate to create a customized Position Description that will truly be a description of the position to be filled or reclassified.  Submit the finished PD for review and approval in the normal fashion.  Contact your HR representative if you are not sure which template you should download.

All downloads are formatted in WordPerfect 6/7/8.
