202.0 POLICY JOB POSTING
202.1 STATEMENT The University strives to enhance opportunities for qualified candidates to apply, and to be considered for job openings within the University.
202.2 PHILOSOPHY The goal of the University's hiring policy is to recruit, hire, transfer, and promote using these guidelines:
  • To consider candidates without discrimination based on age, citizenship, color, disability, marital status, national origin, race, religion, personal appearance, family responsibilities, matriculation, political affiliation, sex, sexual orientation or veteran status or any other unlawful factor. 
  • To use good faith efforts to achieve the University's affirmative action goals for minority persons and women.
  • To select the individual who best meets the needs of the hiring department and the University.
  • To enhance opportunities for mobility and promotion of qualified candidates who are current University employees.
202.3 PROCEDURES Job Posting Requirements
A job notice for a vacant position will be posted for at least five working days before a department may make an employment offer to any candidate.  Jobs will be posted using at least one of the following methods: by a listing on the telephone job line, in an official University publication, or by some other method used by the University and Hospital Human Resources departments.  Exceptions to the job posting requirement may include situations such as positions within a predetermined career path, reclassifications due to change in duties, reorganizations, or a reassignment to accommodate an individual with disabilities pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act.  Any exceptions must be approved by the appropriate Human Resources department.
202.4 RESPONSIBILITY Selecting departments are responsible for following the procedures and spirit of this policy.  The Human Resources department assists selecting departments to recruit, hire, transfer and promote candidates.
