Frequently Asked Questions

Who do I contact if I have a quesiton about my paycheck?

You should address your question to Brenda Roane at (202) 687-4224 or roaneb@georgetown.edu.  However, if the question is about your deductions or tax status, you can review your current information at  Access + or call the University Payroll Office at (202) 687-4418.

My Supervisor is out of the office.  Who is authorized to sign my time sheet?

You should have a backup assignment supervisor who is authorized to approve your time sheet.  If neither the supervisor nor the backup supervisor is available to approve your time sheet, you may give a copy of your time sheet to Brenda Roane before the closing deadline.  You must have your supervisor or backup supervisor approve your time sheet within 24 hours of the closing deadline.

My time sheet was submitted after the deadline. When will I be paid for those hours?

If your time sheet is submitted after the deadline, your time sheet for that week will be processed for the next pay period.

I am sick and cannot come to work. Who should I call?

You should call your Hoya Staffing supervisor and your assignment supervisor.

Do I accrue paid leave and, if so, how do I use it?

Effective November 12, 2008, eligibility for paid leave begins when you have been employed without a break in service for one year and worked 960 hours. Leave will then begin to accrue at the rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked.  Once leave has been approved by your assignment supervisor, you must submit a leave request to your Hoya Staffing supervisor. Your Hoya Staffing supervisor will determine eligibility based upon hours recorded in Genesys.

Will I be paid for holidays?

You are eligible to be paid for holidays when an official University holiday occurs, provided that you were regularly scheduled to work on the day that the holiday was observed, and that you worked your regularly scheduled days and hours before and after the holiday.

How do I know what my hourly pay rate is?

Your pay rate will vary from assignment to assignment. Prior to accepting an assignment, you should ask your Staffing Specialist what the hourly rate is for the position. Paper paychecks will show your first assignment's hourly rate which was entered into the University's payroll system when you were first hired by Hoya Staffing.  The rate shown may not be the same as your current assignment's pay rate.

I worked at Georgetown University prior to my current employment. At the time my check was directly deposited to my bank account. Will my current check be directly deposited in the same account?

When you are rehired, your pay will continue to be deposited in the same account. You must complete a Direct Deposit Change or a Direct Deposit Stop form if you wish to change this.

My paycheck has been lost or stolen. What should I do?

You should contact Janet Tidwell at the University Payroll Office at (202) 687-4175 to request a stop payment and a reissued check.
