General Information

Hoya Staffing temporary employees are categorized as Special Employees.  A Special Employee is an individual hired to work as needed and is not eligible for full staff benefits.  As such, Hoya Staffing temporary employees are not eligible to be paid for special leave days or days when the University is closed due to inclement weather unless they are required to work on those days. They are only paid for actual hours worked. Specific exceptions include:

Holiday Pay - Hoya Staffing temporary employees are eligible to be paid for holidays when an official University holiday occurs, provided that they were regularly scheduled to work on the day that the holiday was observed, and that they worked their regularly scheduled days and hours before and after the holiday. Eligible holiday pay is paid by the department where the temporary employee is assigned.

Paid Leave - Effective November 12, 2008, when a Hoya Staffing temporary employee has been employed for one year with no break in service and has worked 960 hours in a rolling year, leave will  begin to accrue at the rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked.  Once leave has been approved by the assignment supervisor, the employee must submit a leave request in GMS. Approved eligible leave will be paid by Hoya Staffing. 

Vehicle Operations -  Hoya Staffing temporary employees must be approved before driving a University vehicle, their own vehicle, or any other vehicle on University business. Please let us know if your temporary job requires operating a vehicle so that we can have the employee complete the required forms.

Teleworking - Hoya Staffing temporary employees are not authorized to work remotely without special approval. Please let us know if your temporary job requires the employee to work outside of a University office.
