Bright Beginnings

Georgetown University Center for Child and Human Development provides consultative services to Bright Beginnings.

  • Bright Beginnings is a Head Start and Early Head Start Program
  • in the District of Columbia
  • that serves children and their families who are homeless
  • full day program year round
  • birth to five years of age
  • most live in homeless shelters and transitional housing

Georgetown consulting faculty provide:

  • formal interdisciplinary evaluations
  • classroom observation for individual children and whole classrooms
  • standardized developmental screening
  • consultation to teachers, social workers, other staff and parents around individual children and families and
  • consultation to the director and educational coordinator around programmatic planning
  • therapeutic intervention
  • workshop series for teachers

The team consists of

  • a clinical psychologist
  • an occupational therapist
