Environmental Change and Security Program

Recent field work has shown that natural resource-based governance structures such as community forest user groups and wildlife conservancies cannot only improve sustainable ecosystem management and livelihoods, but also provide stability during violent conflict and offer a basis for improved governance, especially at the local level

This event will explore how natural resource management (NRM) and conservation interventions can contribute to conflict prevention and mitigation with featured presenters Kent Glenzer, Director of Program Impact, Knowledge, and Learning, CARE USA; Research Associate, Center for the Study of Public Scholarship, Emory University and Masego Madzwamuse, Country Programme Coordinator, World Conservation Union (IUCN) Botswana.
