How to apply

Student studying

RCST majors apply to the honors program by submitting a formal research proposal. Thesis proposals are due in the Dean's office by March 1 of the junior year.

Proposals should be three to five pages in length and typed, doubled-spaced. A cover sheet should include the proposed project title, the student's name and ID number, the major, the faculty mentor's name, and the year in which the thesis is to be written.

Proposals are evaluated by the curricular dean and a committee of faculty members appointed from the field committee. Students are notified by letter about the committee's decision.

Proposals may be accepted unconditionally, returned for revisions, or rejected. Proposals that are returned for revisions must be rewritten and resubmitted by a specified deadline, at which time the committee reevaluates them and makes a final decision.
