For Concerned Friends (including roommates, teammates, and classmates)

As a friend, roommate, teammate, or classmate, you are among the most important individuals in some of the students' lives.  They may turn to you when they are struggling and in times of need, or you may be one of the first to notice when they are distressed.  Hopefully these links below will provide you with some help:

  • A distressed friend:  what to do if you notice that your friend is distressed and in need of more support.
  • A struggling friend:  some things to keep in mind when your friend is struggling and turning to you for support.

You are always welcome to call or come in to CAPS to have a consultation with a staff member.  They will hear your concerns and help you come up with ways to best help your friend.

Also be aware that there are various other resources available for your friend and your own mental and emotional health.
