Stephen Moore
Program Director, Advanced Research Computing

Steve Moore is Program Director for the Advanced Research Computing (ARC) division of the Office of Information Services. A Georgetown employee since 1976, Steve has worked with various university programs and divisions including the Department of Physiology, Sponsored Programs, the MBNA Career Center, and the Office of the Dean of Research to support basic research and advanced technology services. He transferred from Georgetown University Medical Center (GUMC) to UIS in 2000 to work in close association with the Chief Information Officer to increase computational resources at Georgetown.
In his role as ARC Director, Steve has identified manageable, cost-effective technologies for the University's interdisciplinary and computational research, particularly through collaboration with external companies and organizations and the development of open source solutions. Current projects include the GridsWatch portal and the NCI Cancer Bioinformatics Grid (caBIG).
Steve is also a member of the Author's Guild, with publications in scientific and trade publications including Breast Cancer Research and Treatment, Circulation, Anesthesia, SRA Journal, Georgetown Medical Bulletin, Manuscripts, the Times-Journal Co., Stagebill, Washingtonian Magazine, and Rolling Stone. He has coauthored three biographies (1993 Greenwood Press, 2002 Sports Publishing, LLC, and 2006 Globe Pequot) and holds a B.S. in Political Science from the University of Maryland.
Steve is married with two children and lives in Bethesda, Maryland.
