Installing NAV 8.0: From a CD

Note: Norton AntiVirus (NAV) 8.0 will only work on Mac OS 10 or 10.2. If you are using Mac OS 9.2 (or earlier), you should install NAV 7.0.

To install Norton AntiVirus (NAV) on OS 10 or 10.2, you will need to log into your computer using an administrative account. You can download NAV from the UIS website, or you can install it from a CD. You can get the CD from Hoya Computing.

If you are installing NAV on OS 10.2, you may get some error messages when you restart your computer. If you are using OS 10.2, be sure to see the section on errors encountered with OS 10.2.

Installing NAV 8.0 from a CD

Load the CD, then double click on the Norton AntiVirus CD icon that appears on your desktop.

Double click on the Install for OS X folder.

Double click on the Install Norton AntiVirus icon.

You'll be asked to authenticate yourself.

Beside Password or phrase, type the password that you use when logging into the computer.

Then click on the OK button.

A Norton AntiVirus panel will open. Click on the Continue button.

This will bring up the NAV license agreement. Read the license, then click on the Accept button. When the Read Me file opens, read the parts that interest you, then click on the Continue button.

When the Install Norton AntiVirus panel appears, click on the Install button.

The files you need will install themselves on your computer.

When the installation finishes, click on the Restart button.
