Using NAV 8.0: Scanning Entire Hard Drive

You may wish to scan your computer's entire drive or just scan selected files. You can also schedule scans to run automatically.

UIS recommends that you do not change the preset preferences in NAV 8.0.

Scanning Entire Hard Drive

Scanning your entire hard drive can take quite a long time. You may experience significant slowness if you try to run other programs while NAV is scanning. Make sure you do this when you are not going to be very busy.

  1. Click on Go (at the top of your screen), then click on Applications.
  1. This will open the Applications folder.
  1. Double click on the Norton AntiVirus icon.
  1. This will start the Norton AntiVirus program.
  1. Click on the Disk View tab.
  1. Click on the Drive you want to scan.
  1. Click on the Scan/Repair button.
  1. NAV will start checking through all the files on your computer. This could take quite a while.
  1. When NAV has finished looking through your files, click on the Done button.
